Sonja Morgan could be off hook for $7M judgment

Sonja Morgan had much to be thankful for on Thanksgiving.

It looks like the “Real Housewives of New York City” star could be off the hook for the $7 million judgment that Hannibal Pictures Inc. won against her in 2009.

Morgan, who had a deal to raise $18 million to make a John Travolta movie titled “Fast Flash to Bang Time,” had to declare bankruptcy and put two houses on the market when the agreement went sour.

Now, it seems Hannibal Pictures Inc. didn’t exist until months after the judgment was handed down.

Hannibal Inc. CEO Richard Rionda Del Castro claims the “clerical error” is a meaningless technicality.

But when the parties square off in Los Angeles on Dec. 9, Ian J. Gazes, Morgan’s court-appointed Chapter 11 bankruptcy trustee, will counter that Del Castro’s multi-year failure to disclose to Morgan or the court that Hannibal Pictures was an unregistered entity was intentional.

“The plaintiff went to great lengths to hide its non-existent status,” one lawyer told me.

“It was a hard lesson [Morgan] learned,” a friend said. “But she has excellent credit and pays all her bills. Her only debt is this $7 million judgment.”
