ORLANDO — Disney star Selena Gomez insisted Friday she was not drinking a beer in a photo she recently posted on Facebook, but was actually sipping on a Harry Potter-inspired non-alcoholic drink.
Online rumors began to circulate that the 19-year-old was shedding her family-friendly image after the singer/actress was spotted with a foam mustache and clutching a beer mug in a snap she uploaded to the social networking website.
But Justin Bieber’s current squeeze added a description hours later to allay fears she had veered from the straight and narrow.
“First day off in Harry Potter Land [with] my girls in Orlando Florida. Having some butterbeer,” she explained.
Butterbeer is a drink from J. K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series of fantasy novels. It is sweet tasting, non-alcoholic and described as closely resembling a thick cream soda.
Gomez is currently on tour to promote her latest album “When the Sun Goes Down.”
