Katy Perry and Russell Brand are heading to India, where they wed last year, to try and rekindle their marriage.
Brand has booked a New Year’s Eve stay at the five-star Aman New Delhi resort in hopes of reconnecting with his wife, according to a Sunday Mirror report. Rumors have been circulating that the couple’s marriage is on the rocks due to conflicting work schedules that have Perry trotting across the globe on her “California Dreams” tour while Brand films back-to-back movies.
“Russell and Katy have both agreed that the time they spend apart has been extremely tough and that they need to spend some quality time away together,” a source close to the couple told the paper. “They both realized just how distant they’ve become and whenever they have a precious couple of days together, they’re living in the knowledge that they’re going to be separated again and it causes a lot of tension between them.”
According to the paper, Perry and Brand will spend Christmas in England with his mom. They will then head to India, the site of their wedding, as well as where they were engaged last year. At the time of their engagement, Perry tweeted a photo of herself and Brand embracing outside of the Taj Mahal along with the words, “He built this for me.”
Perry and Brand have refuted rumors their marriage is in trouble. “Just cause we don’t flaunt our relationship doesn’t mean there’s something wrong w/it,” Perry tweeted. “Privacy is our luxury. #tabloidsrtrash #gossipisgross.”
Brand backed her up. “You tell em Mrs Brand! In Britain we’re currently dismantling the scum media so I’m not tuned in to their brain-farting,” he said.
