Did Anna Wintour give ‘Girls’ a high fashion makeover?

Did Anna Wintour and Vogue give the cast of HBO’s “Girls” a high fashion makeover?

Amid buzz that Lena Dunham has landed the cover of Vogue’s February issue, the “Girls” creator and her co-stars stepped out for the season three premiere at Jazz at Lincoln Center in glamorous style.

While Dunham wore a glittering Rochas gown, Allison Williams shone in a blue satin Christian Dior with flower embellishments; Zosia Mamet wore a tight black Saint Laurent number with gold heels; and Jemima Kirke, who plays the bohemian Jessa, who donned a white flowing vintage-style dress by her mother Lorraine Kirke.

Dunham and her cast’s high fashion look may have something to do with Anna Wintour, who attended last night’s event in a fur coat by Prada. As reported by the Post in November, the Girls star is rumored to be on February cover of the magazine, which would mark a huge departure from the usual body images the magazine features.

Dunham has been fully embraced by the New York fashion crowd – J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons even appears on the show as a guest star. “Hannah has an office job and Jenna Lyons plays her boss,” Dunham told Page Six, saying it was her favorite party of the new season. “It’s a really fun story line. I got to spar with the coolest women in fashion in New York so I feel pretty lucky.”

The cast is jetting to Los Angeles today for the Golden Globes, and Kirke tells us she is already stressing over her outfit. “I know its suppose to be a gown and I thought I had gowns and I showed mine to people and they’re like that’s not a gown,” she said. “They’re like, you need people to help you get gowns so I am trying to figure it out.”

Also at the event thrown by HBO’s Richard Plepler and the Cinema Society’s Andrew Saffir were Seth Meyers, Arianna Huffington, Tina Brown, Karlie Kloss, Joel McHale, Steve Buscemi, Tyra Banks, Questlove, Bill Hader, Max Greenfield, Hilary Rhoda, Zac Posen, and Karen Elson.

“Girls” season three debuts on HBO on January 12.
