Charlie Sheen is ready for his big movie comeback. As the star’s TV career has burgeoned with his FX show, “Anger Management,” director Roman Coppola handed Sheen the lead role in “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III.”

Coppola, the son of Francis Ford Coppola, told us during the launch of W Hotels & Intel’s Four Stories competition at the W Downtown, “Charlie is a sort of an underused talent. When you’re making a movie, you want to get the best person for the role. The character is someone who was very charming, very witty, who is dealing with a personal breakup — so [he] has the capacity to be very angry, has the capacity to be very playful, and Charlie has all those qualities . . . He’s just a great actor that recognized the material I had is something he resonated with. And frankly, it’s kind of a thrill [to be the one] who gets to put him back out there in that way.” He added, “Talented people . . . sometimes have other things that happen [in] their lives that make them no less talented. I’m feeling very pleased I got the chance to break him [out] again.”
