Kate Middleton not pregnant despite royal baby mania: report

Those hoping that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge might announce a pregnancy on their first wedding anniversary will be severely disappointed, reports say.

A source close to Kate Middleton tells Us Weekly that she is not currently expecting. Apparently, not only did the Duchess sip sherry to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day two weeks ago, but she also just returned from a skiing trip with husband Prince William as well as the rest of the Middletons. Pregnant woman are often cautioned against the sport.

“Kate is not pregnant or about to make a pregnancy announcement,” the source explains.

Meanwhile, People magazine dedicated its cover to what it calls “Princess Bumpwatch 2012.”

The magazine reports that the Duke and Duchess quietly canceled plans for a trip to Africa, perhaps because required vaccinations can be harmful to a fetus. However, they offer little other evidence that the couple has babies on the brain, other than the fact that both Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana announced pregnancies before their first wedding anniversaries.

“Like any couple, they will let nature and life take its course,” a royal insider tells the magazine. “It will be a joint decision, and they will make it when they’re ready.”

However, Star Magazine alleges that Middleton is not only taking prenatal vitamins and trying to put on weight in order to conceive — but that the Duchess has started in vitro fertilization treatments to up her chances of getting pregnant quickly.

A source tells the magazine that the Duke and Duchess are in a rush because “Queen Elizabeth wants this to happen as soon as possible. She’s well into her 80s, and Prince Philip is even older and just had a heart attack at Christmastime. She’s already splashed out on $200,000 nursery at Kensington Palace as a not-so-subtle hint to get Kate moving.”
