Marijuana is still illegal in New York, as rocker Steve Marshall discovered last week when he was arrested by a carload of cops and taken to Midtown South.
The leader of the Steve Marshall Band would have been given a desk appearance ticket for smoking a joint on the street in Chelsea, but there was a mix-up because Marshall’s brother had been using his good name.
“When the officer asked if I had ever been arrested before in New York, I said no, which was the truth, but they checked and accused me of lying when two arrests in 2009 came up,” Marshall said. “It was a case of identity theft.”
Marshall was soon serenading officers and playing his harmonica. But he has a date in court.
