Neighbors neigh over Lauer plan

Hold your horses, Matt Lauer. The “Today” show host’s plan for a sprawling 40-acre horse farm near his Hamptons home has angered neighbors who are fuming about the project’s impact on their tony enclave, reports The Post’s Selim Algar. Lauer bought the 50,000-square-foot Water Mill spread for a cool $3.5 million last month and revealed plans for indoor and outdoor arenas, paddocks, staff quarters and nearly 30 parking spaces. But his neighbors have complained to town officials that the proposal’s far too expansive to count as a quaint little horse farm. “Just because Lauer and his wife have this dream doesn’t mean that you can take down the quality of life for everyone,” said neighbor Harriet Whittenberg. “It’s just too big,” said another local, Dee Hunter. “They presented this as a little old family farm. But there is supposed to be room for 30 horses? Do they each ride six horses?” Other neighbors have complained it could cause traffic congestion. The issue will be open for a second public hearing on Thursday. Lauer, who earns $25 million a year at NBC, lives near the farm with his wife, Annette, and their three children.
