“I just want to say hello to Rande,” said Alex Rodriguez as he sat with his girlfriend, Torrie Wilson, in a parked SUV outside Whiskey Park bar on Central Park South on Tuesday night. Inside, Rande Gerber, the founder of Whiskey Park owner Gerber Group, and rum scion Roberto Serrallés were hosting a Latin-themed party for the launch of their Caliche Rum. When Gerber realized A-Rod was outside, he darted out to the SUV, climbed over the driver-side seat and gave Rodriguez a hearty bro-hug. The two then came into the sweltering party, where Gerber’s wife, Cindy Crawford, Taye Diggs, Estelle, Michael Michele and nightlife dons Richie Notar, Noah Tepperberg and Eugene Remm were trying to keep cool. Gerber told us it took four years to create the Caliche formula. “This is my first liquor and I wanted to be perfect,” said Gerber, who prefers his rum on the rocks. “When it was perfect it was like ‘ahh’ . . . I couldn’t wait to get it in the bottle and ship it to all of my friends.”
