Keira Knightley is engaged to James Righton of the band the Klaxons.
Knightley’s publicist confirmed today that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star planned to marry her boyfriend, a keyboardist and vocalist for the popular band.
Knightley and Righton began dating in March of 2011, the Daily Mirror reporting at the time that the two had been introduced by model Alexa Chung.
“Alexa set them up on a date as both of them were single and they hit it off straight away. Alexa’s taking all the credit for them getting on so well,” a friend told the paper. “She’s extremely happy right now and really enjoying spending time with James … Keira’s really smitten with James but wants to just quietly get on with it and see what happens.”
Knightley is very tight-lipped about her relationships. She did, however, once tell Marie Claire, “It’s nice to feel wanted, like you’re being chased. It’s hard to have a relationship when I’m working so much, though. But then you have to think, What is actually important in life? It’s a difficult compromise.”
Knightley’s rep did not provide further details about wedding plans.
