WATCH: Colbert, Susan Lucci mock Petraeus soap opera

The ever-evolving Gen. Petraeus scandal is better than any fictional soap opera on television.

With the help of soap queen Susan Lucci, late night host Stephen Colbert took aim at the scandal engulfing the former CIA director last night on “The Colbert Report.”

Colbert deadpanned, “The sex scandal is all anyone in Washington can talk about….I wonder why the country is in financial ruin?”

Colbert mocked the growing list of players in the Petraeus affair that includes jealous biographer Paula Broadwell, busty social climber Jill Kelley, protege general John Allen and the “shirtless agent” Frederick Humphries.

“This isn’t just a love triangle folks, it’s a love pentagon,” he joked.

The political satirist riffed how the usually squeaky-clean war hero’s personal drama is like a “steamy episode of ‘General’s Hospital.’”

In an already winning sketch, the best part is when the “All My Children” star saunters on stage with dramatic music playing, proceeding to fill in the Petraeus drama with even more ludicrous plot lines.
