Silda Wall Spitzer is getting her delicate revenge on estranged husband Eliot Spitzer by quietly becoming more influential than he is in politics.
After hosting a fund-raiser at her Fifth Avenue apartment earlier this month for Michelle Nunn, a Democrat running for the US Senate in Georgia, Silda is now hosting “cocktails and conversation” with Sen. Kay Hagan at her home Feb. 6.
A source tells us, “Silda remains very influential in Democratic circles, something which Eliot probably wishes for himself.”
The Post revealed this month that long-suffering Silda was coming out of the shadows and reviving her social life now that she and Eliot have filed for divorce.
An e-mail to invitees for the Hagan fund-raiser reads, “With 2014 upon us . . . the election is just 11 months away and maintaining a Democratic majority in the Senate is now more important than ever.”
Others hosting events in support of Hagan’s re-election include Sen. Chuck Schumer and his wife, Iris Weinshall, Jay Kriegel, Jill Lerner and Ann Tisch on Feb. 7, as well as Tim Gunn on Jan. 26.
