Lagerfeld’s cat operates iPad, has two maids

Only Karl Lagerfeld would have a cat so pampered, she has two maids and communicates via iPad.

The Chanel designer told Women’s Wear Daily that his white Siamese cat, Choupette, is a “kept woman.” The cat was a gift from Lagerfeld’s muse, model Baptiste Giabaconi, who gave the cat to Lagerfeld for Christmas to watch for two weeks and never returned because “she was too cute.”

She is like a kept woman,” Lagerfeld said in an interview published Wednesday. “She has lunch and dinner with me on the table, with her own food. She doesn’t touch my food. She doesn’t want to eat on the floor. She sleeps under a pillow and she even knows how to use and iPad.”

Choupette also now has a Twitter feed– @ChoupettesDiary went live Wednesday morning, with the first tweet: “Baptiste may think he is a muse but only I, Choupette, am Lagerfeld’s true muse. Everything from my whiskers 2 my meows inspire.”

Choupette also has servants to tend to her every whim. “She has two personal maids, for both day and night,” Lagerfeld added. “She is beyond spoiled.”

Lagerfeld is in New York celebrating the launch of “The Little Black Jacket,” a traveling exhibition of images in homage to the classic Chanel jacket. The designer photographed Sarah Jessica Parker, Yoko Ono, Alexander Wang, Charlotte Casiraghi and others wearing the Chanel jacket, styled by Carine Roitfeld. The exhibit will be on display in Soho starting Friday through June 15.

On Tuesday night, Lagerfeld attended the Gordon Parks Centennial Gala at the Museum of Modern Art, where he joined Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, Anderson Cooper, Sarah Jessica Parker, John Legend and Clive Davis, among others.
