Dancing Deena’s comedic dream

Deena Cortese’s mom says that despite her daughter’s arrest for playing in traffic, the “Jersey Shore” star’s not just “party-party.” “She’s a very funny person,” Joann Cortese told us the day Deena got off with a slap on the wrist after being accused of dancing in the road while blocking cars. She added that Deena has real dreams beyond the booze-soaked “Shore” and wants to do “voice-overs for cartoons or be on a sitcom. I’m not just saying that, she’s got this very comedic way about her,” says Joann, who refers to her daughter as Deena Nicole. She said Deena’s arrest was a “shocking and isolated” incident. “Kids go to the Shore for the summer and things tend to get out of hand,” Joann said. “This is what happens, they go a little overboard . . . but Deena knows how to work, she isn’t just party-party.” Deena’s lawyer, Christian Simonds, told us she faced a significant fine, community service and jail time. She got off with a minor traffic violation that cost her just $106 plus $33 in court fees, The Post reported. Page Six reported last week that the “Jersey Shore” cast and their families were spotted having a beach-side bonfire blowout while shooting this season’s finale, and that the get-together could be the last episode of the MTV show, too. We’ll look for Deena on the Cartoon Network.
