Music execs leaving SXSW in Austin snickered at seeing actor Jason Schwartzman at the airport with his overweight French bulldog, Arrow, in tow wearing a “Service Dog” sign.
“The Grand Budapest Hotel” star, who attended the festival to promote the new flick, was spotted at Austin Airport “wearing a Yankees hat boarding a flight with Arrow,” said a spy, who noted the portly pup wore the sign on its back.
Some dog owners have picked up false “service” badges to bring their pets into restaurants or airplane passenger cabins. While it’s unknown whether Arrow’s paperwork was legit, it’s unlikely it could be much service to a potent Hollywood star.
Schwartzman appears to have a strong attachment to Arrow, having recorded several musical tributes to him, including the 2009 song “Microphone.”
Arrow was offered a cameo in Schwartzman’s HBO show “Bored to Death” by Jonathan Ames, who was enamored with the creature’s “beautiful, crushed, tormented face.” But Arrow has a bad back and “was not up to the rigors of acting.”
