“I don’t know anything about fashion,” said Ethan Hawke at last night’s Council of the Fashion Designers of America gala as he presented an award to costume designer Colleen Atwood. “But I do know there are a lot of beautiful women here.” He has a good eye. The awards at Lincoln Center were graced by Sofia Vergara in a plunging emerald Herve Leroux gown, as well as Victoria’s Secret Angels Alessandra Ambrósio, Candice Swanepoel and Lily Aldridge. Juliette Lewis, in a summery peach dress, was escorted by designer Zac Posen, while Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain walked the carpet with Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci. Award winners included Thom Browne for menswear, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler for womenswear, and Philip Lim for accessories. Hillary Rodham Clinton presented Oscar de la Renta with the Founder’s Award before rushing out to attend former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger’s 90th-birthday bash. The awards schedule was changed to allow Clinton to present de la Renta’s award first, before Vera Wang’s lifetime-achievement award, so she could make Kissinger’s party, which was also expected to draw current Secretary of State John Kerry.sofia
