Jonah Hill’s comedy days are in the past – he’s a “serious actor” now.
Now that the 29-year-old movie star has a Oscar nomination under his belt, he refuses to answer silly questions.
In an interview with Rolling Stone called, “The Doobie Brothers: Lighting Up With The Stars of ‘This Is the End,’” Hill and his frat boy co-stars Seth Rogen, Danny McBride and James Franco were asked to answer questions from passing gas to masturbation.
Hill – who became famous from raunchy comedies such as “Superbad” and “Knocked Up” – was humorless.
For example, when he was asked about his morning routine as an easy interview opener, Hill replied, “My workout routine is of little relevance.”
The writer then describes how Hill’s eyes “nearly jumped out of their sockets” when asked what kind of farter he is.
“I’m not answering that dumb question! I’m not that kind of person! Being in a funny movie doesn’t make me have to answer dumb questions. It has nothing to do with who I am,” Hill said. (In case you’re interested, Franco has a covert approach: “I don’t do it in public, but when I’m at home in bed, I’ll fart! And on a plane, I’ll let it go.” Rogen is way more relaxed in comparison: “I will say I’m a pretty bad farter from time to time.”)
Hill was, however, more than willing to discuss how he’s shed his funnyman image for more highbrow fare.
“I’ve done one of the biggest challenges you can do in Hollywood, which is transition from being a comedic actor to being a serious actor, and I’m really prideful of that,” he explained. “I could have made a billion dollars doing every big comedy of the last 10 years and didn’t, in order to form a whole other life for myself. Now I have fulfillment doing both.”
Hill was nominated for an Oscar for his role in “Moneyball” with Brad Pitt.
