“He told me not to be afraid of taking chances,” Leonardo DiCaprio said after huddling with “Nebraska” star Bruce Dern at Thursday night’s Paramount holiday party.
At the bash, held at the swank Italian joint Remi in Midtown, DiCaprio was sequestered in a corner with his pal and “The Wolf of Wall Street” co-star Jonah Hill while skyscraper supermodel types and media swells from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association circled nearby.
When Dern walked in and told Robb Report’s Bill McCuddy he’d never met DiCaprio, the younger star immediately jumped up to chat with the Hollywood legend (who’s sure to be nominated for his poignant turn in “Nebraska”).
“I’ve noticed you like to take risks and go after controversial roles,” Dern told DiCaprio, as the “Titanic” actor’s bodyguards kept eavesdroppers and cellphone snappers at bay. DiCaprio then slipped out a side door of the restaurant, leaving co-star Hill to glad-hand the crowd.
