Ratner’s new company to make $40M from ‘Gravity’

Brett Ratner quit as the Oscars’ producer amid controversy in 2011. But he was quietly — and lucratively — back on the awards scene on Sunday.

While Sandra Bullock will make a reported $70 million from her Oscar-nominated blockbuster “Gravity,” Ratner’s a lesser known beneficiary of the sci-fi hit that won seven Oscars. His new company RatPac-Dune — with Aussie billionaire James Packer and OneWest and “Avatar” investor Steven Mnuchin — helped finance the film and is pocketing $40 million, sources said.

“Gravity” made $705 million and is one of the first financed by RatPac-Dune.

Ratner was spotted at Vanity Fair’s exclusive screening party during the awards. He’s in post-production on his movie epic “Hercules,” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
