The perfect man to portray chess master Bobby Fischer? The new world chess champ, Magnus Carlsen.
Frank Brady, author of the Fischer biography “Endgame,” is pushing for the handsome 23-year-old Norwegian, who recently made Cosmopolitan’s list of the sexiest men of 2013.
Brady’s book was just optioned by Albertine Productions. The author is also campaigning for Mary Steenburgen to play Fischer’s radical and brilliant mother, Regina, in the movie version.
This is the second Bobby Fischer project under way. “Pawn Sacrifice” is about to begin production and stars Tobey Maguire as the former prodigy who beat the USSR’s Boris Spassky, in 1972, in the biggest chess match of all time.
Unlike “Endgame,” a cradle-to-grave biography, “Pawn Sacrifice” focuses just on the match with Spassky, played by Liev Schreiber.
