Tired of hiding: Actress Ellen Page comes out as gay

“Juno” actress Ellen Page came out as gay on Valentine’s Day, announcing the news at an LGBT youth conference in Vegas that she was “tired of hiding.”

Page, 26, gained stardom playing a pregnant teen in 2007’s “Juno” and has also appeared in the X-Men movies.

“I’m here today because I am gay. And because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time,” Page said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered and my relationships suffered.”

The Canada-born-and-raised Page will next appear opposite Julianne Moore as one half of a gay couple in the indie “Freeheld.”
