‘24’ Star Kapoor makes his peace

Anil Kapoor says he took inspiration for his role as a Middle Eastern peacemaker in the new season of “24” from Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama. The Bollywood icon, who earned worldwide recognition for his role in “Slumdog Millionaire,” told us: “I re searched all the speeches of all these great leaders — from Mahatma Gandhi, to Mandela, Martin Lu ther King, Obama and [Bill] Clinton.” He said it was “amazing” working with Kiefer Sutherland, noting, “If I was in his place, I would have been bored and tired after working the same role for years. But it seemed every day it was the first day of the shoot for him.” Kapoor said he nearly turned down his “Slumdog” role: “I didn’t know who Danny Boyle was when I was approached, and it was my son who said, ‘Dad, you’re being a fool,’ and pointed out a ‘Trainspotting’ poster.”
