NYC’s elite toast surgeon’s first novel

Gerald Imber, MD, launched his first novel, “Wendell Black, MD,” with cocktails at the Upper East Side townhouse of ad man Jerry Della Femina and his wife, journalist Judy Licht.

Della Femina praised the plotting of Imber’s potboiler: “I told him I was 20 pages from the end and I was wrong about which guy did it. And Gerald told me, ‘So was I.’ ”

Dr. Imber, one of the city’s top plastic surgeons, also wrote “Genius on the Edge,” the biography of pioneering, drug-addicted surgeon W.S. Halsted.

As glasses were raised by Monica Crowley, Bartle Bull, Joan Kron, Lynn White, Michael Kramer and The Post’s Michael Goodwin, Licht toasted: “To Gerald Imber, who writes as well as he cuts.”
