Nearly a year after John Galliano was banished by Dior for making anti-Semitic remarks at a Parisian cafe while drunk, the mustachioed designer made a quiet appearance the other day in London. He was spotted among the guests at a 50th birthday bash for longtime friend DJ Jeremy Healy at hipster venue Mark Hix on Brewer Street. The appearance of Galliano, who is in recovery, “caused quite a flutter in the room,” a spy said. “John was quiet and reserved, he was sober and very demure, but there to support his friend.” Galliano’s dismissal from Dior set off an industry-wide search for a replacement that’s produced enticing names, but no successor.
