David Beckham ‘didn’t know where to look’ watching his Super Bowl underwear ad

David Beckham admits that the commercial for his H&M underwear line that aired during the Super Bowl was “embarrassing” to watch in a room full of people.

“I’m very shy. When we were watching the Super Bowl yesterday in a room of about 20 people and it came on, I actually didn’t know where to look,” Beckham told Ryan Seacrest of his David Beckham Bodywear spot, which showed the soccer star in his skivvies, the camera lingering over his many tattoos as well as his posterior.

“It was kind of embarrassing,” Beckham added.

The soccer star, who has four children with wife Victoria Beckham, says his kids didn’t exactly know what to make of the racy ad either.

“The kids loved it,” said Beckham. “But they were also embarrassed as well because there was other people in the room.”

In the end, Beckham concluded that the commercial was easier to shoot then to watch in public.

DAVID BECKHAM EJECTED FROM KIDS’ GAME

“Shooting it, there wasn’t too many people in the room so it was pretty easy,” he explained.

Beckham also revealed during his “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest” interview how he came to team up with retailer H&M.

“It was something I created before H&M came in, something I wanted to do after the success of Armani,” said Beckham, referencing the designer whose underwear he was once a spokesman for. “H&M came in literally two days after we put the advertising campaign out and said we see something great happening here, we want to be part of it and we can put it in 18 hundred stores in 40 different countries — which is something that I could never have done — so it’s been a great partnership so far.”

So why did Beckham want to get into the underwear game in the first place?

“I love underwear,” he said. “I love wearing it so it was something I just wanted to kind of create myself.”
