Russell Brand not seeking money in Katy Perry divorce: report

Russell Brand isn’t looking for financial gain in his split from pop star Katy Perry, reports say, despite the fact that he would be entitled to 50% of what she made in the 14 months between when the couple married and when Brand filed for divorce on Dec. 30.

TMZ reports that while Brand and Perry did not have a prenuptial agreement, Brand isn’t going after any of the money the “Fireworks” singer made during their marriage. Sources tell the site that Brand has filed his final divorce paperwork and will not be exercising his rights to “community property.”

According to Forbes, Perry raked in $44 million between May 2010 and May 2011 while Brand made $7 in the same period. Brand could have tried to seek half of the cumulative earnings.

“This divorce is as amicable as it gets,” a source explains to the site. “Russell was a mensch,” the source continues, expressing that he did a good deed.

Perry and Brand’s divorce is expected to be finalized on June 30, after a six-month waiting period.
