Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is apparently keeping up with the Kardashians, as well as with the Obamas. In a speech, Romney compared President Obama’s campaign promises to the pledge reality TV star Kim Kardashian made to Nets star Kris Humphries during their lavish wedding, before filing for divorce just 72 days later.

“I’ve been looking at some video clips on YouTube of President Obama — then candidate Obama — going through Iowa making promises,” Romney said Sunday, referencing Obama on the campaign trail in 2008. “The gap between his promises and his performance is the largest I’ve seen, well, since the Kardashian wedding and the promise of ’til death do we part.”

BARACK OBAMA NOT A FAN OF THE KARDASHIANS

Obama can’t have liked the comparison, and not only because it alludes to the idea that he has not lived up to the promise of his campaign. Obama is simply not a fan of the Kardashian’s many E! television franchises.

Michelle Obama told iVillage in October, “Barack really thinks [“Keeping Up With The Kardashians”] — when [Malia and Sasha] watch that stuff — he doesn’t like that.”

Kardashian has been much maligned since her promise of “for as long as we both shall live” withered under the pressure of her and Humphries’ conflicting ideas on where to live and how to raise a family. But Kardashian recently said that she is looking forward rather than backward.

“I think a good lesson I learned about myself is to always follow your heart, and I think I’ll never stop doing that,” she told Us Weekly on New Year’s Eve. “[I’m looking forward to] just having a really good 2012 and soaking in all the lessons learned in 2011. That’s it. Simple.”
