Kelsey Grammer has admitted that his relationship with new wife Kayte Walsh began while he was still married to Camille Grammer.
Grammer clarified during an appearance last night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that he met British flight attendant Walsh in December 2009. This was a full six months before he announced to Camille Grammer he wanted a divorce.
“We actually met in the air on a plane to England,” Grammer told Kimmel. “It was very romantic, she was working on the plane. We went out for coffee several days later and had this magical night in the snow in London around Christmas time. It was two years ago.”
Soon after he met Walsh, Grammer moved to New York to star in “La Cage aux Folles” on Broadway while then-wife Camille Grammer began filming “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” On the show, she was seen accompanying Grammer to the opening of the show. But it was during her tenure on the reality series that the couple’s relationship ended. Camille has said she was informed in June 2010 by a friend that her husband was leaving her. She alleges Grammer then sent her a text message saying, “I don’t want to be married anymore.”
The Grammers’ divorce was finalized Feb. 10, 2011. Just fifteen days later, Walsh, 30, and Grammer, 56, married in the same theater where “La Cage aux Folles” was staged.
Grammer seems highly enthusiastic about his new wife, and says that friends have been supportive of their marriage.
He told Kimmel, “Most of them say, ‘It’s about time. You’re a marrying kind of guy.’”
