Catherine Zeta-Jones was a no-show at Sundance over the weekend for the premiere of her highly anticipated new film, “Lay the Favorite.” After a series of personal setbacks last year, Zeta-Jones plays the wife of a bookie, played by Bruce Willis, and it’s getting her big buzz in Park City. But she didn’t arrive at a dinner prior to the film’s premiere despite being on tip sheets for the event, as well as a separate cast panel talk. A Zeta-Jones rep told us the actress was “never confirmed to attend” the festival and couldn’t be there because she was at work on another project. Willis, meantime, was delayed by bad weather, and headed straight to the film’s premiere at the Eccles. Chic Rebecca Hall and Joshua Jackson celebrated the film at the exclusive Bing Bar dinner with top agents and execs. The movie by Oscar-nominated director Stephen Frears got a rapturous response after its screening. Another star-studded Sundance movie, “The Words,” with Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana and Olivia Wilde, sold to CBS Films yesterday, ahead of its premiere.
