Hugh Bonneville: ‘Downton Abbey’ doesn’t miss Dan Stevens

“Downton Abbey” star Hugh Bonneville says his hit Brit series doesn’t miss its former star Dan Stevens.

“It’s been interesting,” debonair Bonneville told us. “The show has taken on a different flavor. New characters have come in his wake.”

Many wondered how the series would fare when Stevens quit after three seasons and his beloved character, Matthew Crawley, was bumped off.

But a record 10.2 million people tuned into the show’s January season debut, and 6.8 million watched an episode that ran against the Super Bowl.

In town for the premiere of his new film, “The Monuments Men,” with George Clooney and Matt Damon, Bonneville added of Stevens when we asked if he missed him on the show: “I had drinks with him a couple weeks ago. But miss him on the show? I think that’s a bit too maudlin.”
