Mitt Romney held two New York fundraisers days before the South Carolina primary, one for mere mortals and another for Masters of the Universe. At the mortals’ moolah spinner, there was minimal food. “For this kind of money, you think you’d get a french fry or a Buffalo wing,” groused one donor who’d shelled out $2,500 for Romney’s event at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers Tuesday. Spies tell The Post’s Jennifer Fermino the cuisine was “chips, salsa and guacamole.” There was a cash bar charging “$9 for a domestic beer” and another dollar for an import, as well as $15 mixed drinks. Jets owner Woody Johnson made light of the sparse situation by cracking, “We need the money” when he took to the microphone. “The guacamole was good. I’ll give them credit for that. It wasn’t spicy, but it was good,” one amateur food critic mused. Johnson then joined Romney at Steve Schwarzman’s Park Avenue apartment with guests who can afford bigger bar tabs and gourmet food, including Gerald Hassell, Emil Henry, Ray Dalio, David McCormick, Paul Singer, Anthony Scaramucci and former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld. The group discussed “how to handle attacks on Romney’s private-equity firm Bain Capital,” a source added.
