While rumors swirl that iconic Meatpacking District French bistro Pastis could be forced to shutter its doors, restaurateur Keith McNally says he’s working with the landlord so the 1930s-style brasserie stays put. The Post reported that the owners of 9-11 Ninth Ave. partnered with real estate investors Aurora Capital Associates “to modernize and enlarge the buildings into a 108,000-square-foot office and flagship retail property.” This sparked speculation that Pastis would close during construction or even be forced to move to a new location. But McNally, who reportedly has a “tricky” relationship with landlord William Gottlieb Management, told us, “As far as Pastis is concerned, I have a very harmonious relationship with the landlord, and we’re working on a new lease together. If I ever have to leave, or if I ever plan on leaving, I’ll let you know.” Sources say McNally hopes Pastis will remain open during construction to add another six floors to the building and renovate the facade. Other sources say there was a plan to build a hotel in the space, but no deal has been sealed.
