Danica Patrick, husband splitting

Race-car driver Danica Patrick’s marriage to Paul Hospenthal has crashed and burned. The pair met in 2002 when Patrick, now 30, was being treated by physical therapist Hospenthal — who’s 17 years her senior — for a yoga injury to her hip. But the raven-haired racer said yesterday via Facebook that she’s making the pit stop of love after seven years of marriage to the older dude. “I am sad to inform my fans that after seven years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage,” she posted, adding, “This isn’t easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life, and that’s how we will remain moving forward.” Patrick seemingly has not let any behind-the-scenes marital strife get to her before making her announcement. She had her best finish in nine NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races earlier this month, and she also just won a most popular driver award as voted by fans Monday. Off the track, Patrick’s known by most non-NASCAR fans for her racy cheesecake ads for GoDaddy. The Web site domain name company says it will feature Patrick in its Super Bowl spots again next year, and the company’s also committed to sponsoring the Sprint Cup schedule next season, when Patrick will race full- time at NASCAR’s highest level. She’s been splitting her time between the Sprint Cup and Nationwide circuits to date.
