THERE’S trouble on the set of ABC ‘s “Good Morning America,” with host Charlie Gibson losing a power struggle against fellow host Diane Sawyer for creative control of the show. Insiders say Gibson is upset that Sawyer has wrestled programming decisions away from executive producer Ben Sherwood ,and taken it in a “tabloid” direction that Gibson finds tasteless.

“Ben is in Diane ‘s pocket and basically submits to what she wants,” our insider claims, “and Charlie is unhappy with the direction the show has gone.”

Our story seems to have struck a nerve with the “Good Morning America” camp.. ABC news media relations VP Jeffrey Schneider sounded off to us,”Charlie Gibson told me,’The only thing going in a tabloid direction is your source, who clearly doesn ‘t know squat. With Sherwood at the helm, the GMA team is stronger than ever. Diane and I are on exactly the same page and the ratings are the best in more than 10 years.'”
