Lady Gaga turned out at Monday’s Ace fashion gala in one of her trademark lace headpieces, and the piece became a giant obstacle when it came to dinner. Fellow guests at Cipriani 42nd Street were warned by security not to speak to her because, “Lady Gaga hasn’t eaten yet,” although she never lifted the lace covering her mouth once to eat. Instead, she played with a Barbie doll placed on her table, dressing it up to look like her. Picking up her Stylemaker award from the Accessories Council, she dashed reports that her team would do a clothing line, saying, “The House of Gaga is nothing that can be sold.” And she told the room packed with fashion’s biggest names, including Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Calvin Klein, Betsey Johnson, Alexander Wang, Nina Garcia, Molly Sims, Glenda Bailey and supermodel Agyness Deyn: “I think we must all remember that the ultimate accessory is the condom.”
