Bobbi Kristina wants to play Whitney Houston in biopic: report

While Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks and Brandy have all been named as contenders to star in an upcoming biopic about Whitney Houston, reports say that Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina would like a chance at the part herself.

According to TMZ, Kristina has told friends that she is the “perfect person” to play Houston, should a biopic ever come to fruition, as “no one knew her better.” Kristina reportedly is taking inspiration from Eric Wright Jr., the son of rapper Eazy-E, who said in September that there was a “high probability” he would play his father in an upcoming movie about the group N.W.A.

Reports say that record label executive Clive Davis has been working on a possible Houston biopic for a long time, far before Houston’s untimely death in February at age 48 in February.

“Whitney knew about the project and was excited to see where it would lead,” a source told People UK. “It’s hoped the biopic will be as successful as Tina Turner movie ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It,’ which landed two Oscar nominations for Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne who played Tina and Ike Turner.”

In her first interview after her mother’s death, Kristina shared with Oprah that she did have Hollywood ambitions.

“I’m her daughter, I gotta keep movin’, I gotta carry on her legacy,” Kristina said. “We’re gonna do the singing thing, we’re gonna do some acting, some dancing, you know. It’s a lot of pressure, but she prepared me for it.”
