When culinary legend Jacques Pépin was asked what his “perfect New York day” would be, the toque joked, “with my wife?” He then answered, “Seriously, I would want a couple of bottles of Moët & Chandon and a kilo of caviar, and we would spend it in bed together.” Pépin spoke at a party announcing plans for the University Settlement dinner and charity auction April 24 at 82Mercer, for which he’ll prepare a five-course meal with help from master pastry chef Jacques Torres and wine director Scott Carney. Guest sommeliers will attend from Eleven Madison Park, Bouley and L’Artusi.
