Washington Post writer to pen biography on Nora Ephron

Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen is writing a biography of Nora Ephron, sources tell Page Six. Cohen was a longtime friend of Ephron, who died in June 2012, since they met in Washington at around the time she began dating Carl Bernstein. We’re told Cohen asked Ephron’s family if he could chronicle her rich life story, and got their blessing. Cohen was the first speaker at her funeral, at her request. He wrote after her death, “Nora Ephron and I started out as enemies. I had written something about her, something she didn’t like, and so when we met some time later, she turned on me with a cold fury and to a friend standing nearby spit out every one of my offending words — one after another, precisely as I had typed them. I was awestruck, also intimidated, and so some months later when she came to my door with her new boyfriend [Bernstein], she coyly said, ‘This is going to be like the movies. We start as enemies and end as friends.’ She extended her hand. I took it and never let it go.”
