Sean Stewart to marry older woman

It sounds like a line out of his dad Rod Stewart‘s hit “Maggie May” about falling for a cougar — Hollywood wild child Sean Stewart is going to marry Chantel Kendall, who is nine years older.

Sean, 30, son of rock legend Rod and actress-model Alana Hamilton, is engaged to blonde Kendall, 39, the ex-wife of Kansas City Royals star Jason Kendall.

A friend told us of the pair, who reportedly met in rehab, “They decided to get married after his arrest a few weeks ago. Sean says Chantel is a good and calming influence over him. Meanwhile, she’s excited to be marrying into the family of music royalty and Sean has been supportive to her through her divorce.”

Hamilton’s reps confirmed her son is engaged and “the rest of the family are thrilled.” She said in a statement, “I couldn’t be happier for them. We absolutely adore Chantel and welcome her into our family.”

Chantel went through a bruising divorce with Kendall earlier this year, and Sean was spotted accompanying her to court hearings.

Sean, who’s no longer bankrolled by his dad and lives with Chantel in her Malibu mansion, has previously battled problems with drugs and the law. He appeared on “Celebrity Rehab” and was arrested last month when cops pulled him over for a traffic violation and found he had an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license.

He was hit with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon following a 2007 incident where he was accused of throwing bricks, but charges were later dropped. He had a nine-month stint in rehab following a 2002 arrest for alleged assault and has previously talked about taking ecstasy, Vicodin pills and cocaine. But friends say he has fought hard to overcome his addictions.

Rod Stewart said in a statement, “She’s a lovely person, they make a great couple and I’m over the moon that Sean has found happiness.” Chantel’s lawyer, Neil Hersh, declined to comment. Calls to Sean’s cellphone were not returned.
