Billy Joel is recovering well from double hip-replacement surgery. The Piano Man, 61, underwent bilateral surgery at an unidentified Long Island hospital last week. A rep for Joel confirms, “It is a congenital ailment, and he had surgery. He’s doing really well, he is in good spirits and he’s feeling well.” As for rumors Joel planned to tour next year, the rep said, “Nothing is planned as yet.” Joel in recent months has been spotted using a cane to alleviate his hip pain. He told Howard Stern last week that years of stomping onstage had taken their toll.
