Jinxing the Knicks?

I’m not superstitious, but I was starting to think I’m a jinx on my favorite team, the New York Knicks. Some other Knicks fans have thought so, too.

Before I left the city in 2010 for a three-year stint in Los Angeles, the Knicks had suffered through nine losing seasons in a row and made the playoffs only once (2003-2004), losing in the first round without winning one game.

Then — while I was out west — Amar’e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony had the Knicks winning again. The team made the playoffs three years in a row, culminating in last year’s run into the second round.

Things were looking up. Fans talked about fighting Miami for a possible championship. But then I moved back to town.

So far this season, the Knicks went 3-13 and lost nine in a row before finally beating the pathetic Nets on Thursday night.

Maybe my friends who are Knicks fans will stop suggesting I get out of town. This monkey is off my back — for now.
