Beyonce Knowles skipped town almost immediately after lip-synching the national anthem at the inauguration, heading back to New Orleans, where she is rehearsing for the Super Bowl.
Instead of toasting her “performance” at the Inauguration Ball, she and hubby Jay-Z enjoyed a low-key dinner at Mother’s soul food restaurant last night. The couple “were here for a couple of hours,” Mother’s employee Jerry Amato tells Page Six exclusively. “Beyonce had calamari and Jay Z had fish. They were both extremely nice to everyone.”
Beyonce posted a pic of the restaurant’s menu with her own playful face behind it on Instagram during their visit.
Her mood was different this afternoon after Page Six broke the news of the singer’s subterfuge. Spotted shopping on Claiborne Street in the French Quarter, “She was surrounded by huge security guards,” an eyewitness tells Page Six exclusively. “She didn’t really interact with anyone and did not look happy. She kept her head down.”
Beyonce is set to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show in the city on February 3. Her rep has yet to confirm if that performance will be live.
