Chris Brown has fallen victim to a “swatting” prank after a false report of domestic violence drew LAPD to the singer’s home on Monday.
Authorities said that a caller contacted police shortly before 5 p.m. informing them of a domestic violence situation at the R&B crooner’s home.
However, when police arrived, members of Brown’s staff were at the home, but he was not. Police then searched the home and didn’t find any problems.
The incident is part of a growing phenomenon where anonymous trouble-makers alert police to a fake crime, sometimes prompting a response by SWAT officers.
The homes of Tom Cruise, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Ashton Kutcher have been recently targeted by “swatting” pranks. A 12-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the reports involving Bieber and Kutcher.
