Shia LaBeouf works on his sobriety with LSD and bar visit

Shia LaBeouf has admitted, “I am an alcoholic,” and attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. But apparently his version of recovery includes LSD, moonshine and bars.

The actor was spotted last Thursday outside of Fiddlesticks bar in the West Village, just around the corner from an AA meeting frequented by celebrities, multiple sources tell Page Six.

“He appeared unsteady and was really belligerent with anyone who approached him,” an eyewitness tells Page Six. “He was chainsmoking and just looked really paranoid, looking out for photographers.”

Twitter user @kassiesux later claimed of Shia’s night out, “ … my brother served a drunk shia labeouf at 1am yesterday and he was reckless … very drunk, very loud, like to the point where my brother had to tell him to shut up …”

“He was an [bleep],” Twitter user @danlongo tweeted about meeting him outside of a West Village bar that night.

A rep for LaBeouf tells Page Six, “Please know that this is a totally fabricated story. Shia went to a play (Collision) that evening and out with the cast following to Fiddlesticks. No AA meeting and no intoxication.”

But the actor himself has admitted to living a less-than-sober lifestyle. He told reporters at the Sundance Film Festival that he dropped acid for 24 hours while prepping to film his new movie, “The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman.”

And while filming “Lawless,” he has said, he was frequently drunk on moonshine. “Listen, there was a time I was full bore,” he said of the experience. “Now, it’s not my thing. I wouldn’t go to moonshine … It’s rough, man, really rough. Rough in that it’s the quickest drunk you’ve ever experienced — 10 seconds and you’re gone.”

He also plans to take the method-acting approach with his new movie, “Nymphomaniacs,” in which he will have sex on camera. “For instance, there’s a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we’re doing it for real,” LaBeouf has said. “Everything that is illegal, we’ll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening.”
