Kanye West is “insecure” his ex, Brooke Crittendon, claims. Crittendon, who first met West in 2004 and dated him for more than a year, is speaking out about the experience of dating West as his relationship with Kim Kardashian becomes more serious.
“He was not macho,” Crittendon told The Sun. “He needed you to be with him and needed your opinion. He was quite vulnerable.”
“He was insecure as he couldn’t be with me every day,” she claimed. “I got the impression he worried he wasn’t good enough for me. He needs people to tell him he is good and that he is needed and wanted.”
“He wouldn’t start his show unless I was at the side of the stage. One night the show was delayed because he couldn’t find me,” she says.
But the worst part of dating him, she claims, was the constant female attention he faced. “I was very naïve,” Crittendon says. “…It got too much for me to handle. I was never OK being one of many. Or even one of a few. … Kanye was very open and honest but it ended up with me knowing too much. I don’t want to be silly and say it wasn’t cheating because I knew about it.”
Kardashian, however, just might be the one to tame him, Crittendon believes.
“For Kanye, what other person besides Kim Kardashian is there?” she asks. “There’s Halle Berry, JLo and Beyonce, but they’re all taken. [Kim] fits into his brand.”
Crittendon believes West even watched Kardashian’s sex tape before there dated and says, “I know he has had a thing with her for a while.”
In fact, West’s former friend, rapper Consequence, claims that West was dating Kardashian while she was with football star Reggie Bush. He claimed on Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club show this morning, “That was our secret. When the rest of the world didn’t know.”
