Levi Johnston explains that his new girlfriend is pregnant after the two “forgot the birth control pills” on a vacation, while his ex Bristol Palin has gone public saying, “I thought he learned his lesson the first time.”
Johnston sat down for an interview with “The Insider” today alongside his girlfriend of a year and a half, Sunny Oglesby, to talk about discovering that she was pregnant.
“There was a time we went to the cabin and forgot the birth control pills and, you know, about a month later we found out we were having a baby,” Johnston said.
But despite reports that he owes Bristol Palin nearly $40K in child support, Johnston says in the interview that he is not a deadbeat dad.
“No, I never will be,” he said. “I love Tripp more than anything and he is my son but I don’t feel like a dad to him. Not by choice … Hopefully one day I can be.”
At one point, Oglesby got so heated that she jumped into the conversation.
“I’m tired of people thinking that my boyfriend’s a bad father especially now that I’m having his baby,” the blue-eyed blonde said. “I don’t want people thinking that about him … It’s really sad, his image, because it’s pretty much the complete opposite of how he is in real life. He’s an awesome dad. And he tries to get Tripp all the time.”

LEVI JOHNSTON OWES BRISTOL PALIN NEARLY $40K IN UNPAID CHILD SUPPORT: REPORT
Meanwhile, Bristol Palin spoke to In Touch Weekly earlier this week, sharing how she felt upon hearing that her former boyfriend was about to be a father for the second time.
“I thought he had learned his lesson the first time,” she said. “I think it’s a little bit of everything, and a lot of confusion. I’m upset about it.”
Palin contradicted what Johnston said about his access to his son.
“He’s seen Tripp twice in the past four months,” explained Palin. “I wish Levi would be like ‘Hey, Bristol, can I have Tripp for the weekend?’ I would be so willing and glad to do that.”
Palin said that she hopes Johnston will be more present for his second child, and that he will finally start being more careful about birth control.
“I hope this child is raised with two parents,” she said. “I don’t want [Tripp] to go to elementary school with 10 half siblings. That would really affect him.”
