Jet-set hotelier Jason Pomeranc and his business partners are selling their interest in the Commune Hotels & Resorts — which owns Pomeranc’s chic Thompson Hotels — to Pritzker heir John Pritzker’s private equity firm Geolo Capital. The deal means Geolo will take the Thompson Hotels name as well as six Thompson properties including two in New York, the Hollywood Roosevelt in Los Angeles and the Belgraves in London. Pomeranc, his brothers Michael and Lawrence Pomeranc and business partner Stephen Brandman will retain the original Pomeranc hotels — 60 Thompson, 6 Columbus, Thompson Beverly Hills and the Thompson LES — which will change their names as part of the deal. Pomeranc and his partners might set a record for literary name-dropping in an e-mail announcement to friends which quotes Dr. Seuss, Oscar Wilde, Zadie Smith and Jack Kerouac in just five paragraphs. “ ‘Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened,’ said the great dreamer Dr. Seuss,” they penned.
