“Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon married her longtime partner, Christine Marinoni, on Sunday.
The 46-year-old actress’ rep told People magazine, “On May 27, 2012, Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, were legally married in the state of New York. Nixon wore a custom dress by Carolina Herrera.”
The couple got engaged three years ago at a rally to support same-sex marriage and waited to wed until gay marriage was legalized in New York — a bill that was passed in June last year.
“I’m enjoying being engaged very much,” Nixon said in 2010. “I don’t mind a long engagement, which this one is surely turning out to be.”
Nixon has been in a relationship with 45-year-old education activist Marinoni since 2004. Marinoni gave birth to their son, Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni, in February last year.
Nixon also has two children, Samantha and Charles, from her previous relationship with English professor and photographer Danny Mozes.
