Lee Daniels almost missed hearing his name announced as an Oscar nominee for Best Picture early Tuesday morning. At a Paley Center screening for the HBO documentary “The Black List: Volume Three,” the “Precious” director told us he was so groggy, he forgot the movies are announced alphabetically by title, not by director. “When [Quentin] Tarantino was mentioned prior to Daniels, I went, ‘Oh, well, nuts,” he recalled. “And literally as I got back to the pillow I heard ‘Daniels,’ and I bounced back up.”
