THE CROWD at the Oak Room & Bar at the Plaza Hotel were amazed last night when Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance and performed four songs.
The pop singer, who wore a cavewoman-style dress of long fur, fishnet tights and a long blonde wig, showed up with her family and after sipping champagne joined the jazz band in front of 100 amazed guests.
An Oak Room spokesperson told us: “She called a few hours before and asked if she could sing. She is a longtime friend with the musician who plays every Wednesday, Brian Newman and performed with his After Dark Jazz Trio.”
He added that tickets were not sold, and none of the other people in the bar knew that Gaga was about to show up.
On its Twitter page, The Oak Room today thanked Gaga, along with Newman, “for such a memorable performance.”
